Trends and Truisms

Treena sent in this article, "An old boyfriend of mine used to laugh at me because I have always said that the minute anything I do starts to become really popular or trendy, I drop it.

For some reason he thought this was incredibly amusing (in a patronizing way). Needless to say, he is no longer in my life.
My aversion to trendiness stems from the fact that I do not want to be pegged as one of those people who picked up a particular activity or interest..."

Eterm for me, Eterm for you
Posted Monday, November 01, 1999 - 9:52 AM by: Sensei | Submit Your News
Eterm is a copycat terminal with bonus options. Eterm uses Imlib for advanced graphic abilities. Many people love the clear terminals you see on alot of screenshots. I typically run clear terms with a tint or a darker shade for a bit of differentiation from my background. Otherwise it can be difficult to read my files because of the color display I have set within DIR_COLORS. Which I could edit, but I'm too lazy :).

Meteor Threat to Satellites, Possibly Earth?
Posted Monday, November 01, 1999 - 8:18 AM by: Sensei | Submit Your News
Ripped from WiRED, "The US Air Force said Friday it will be watching closely for any damage to US missile-warning, communications and other military satellites when the earth passes through the Leonid Meteor Storm on 17 November.
The storm, consisting of tiny sand-like particles traveling faster than 140,000 mph, is essentially a cloudy tail of space debris from the comet Temple-Tuttle.

Although there was some concern when the earth first passed through the comet's tail in..."

Linuxnewbie.org is 'the place' for people that are transitioning to Linux from Windows and are having a hard time learning how to operate, install, and getting around the OS. I hope you find the information here useful in setting up your new and old Linux machines.

At Linuxnewbie.org we have devised a different system of learning Linux. Instead of following the boring HOW-TO's and reading MAN pages, "we" would like to act as a portal and archive all of the tips/tricks and "HOWTO's" users have created or send in to us. These files will be laid out in an easy to read and understandable format.

Linuxnewbie.org not only plans to bring you "Newbieized Help Files," but "we" plan on bringing you "Newbieized Help Files" on other OS's such as IRIX and Solaris as well as any and all distributions of Linux.

Our Credo:
"We the newbies of the Linux community, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish better documentation, insure cross platform understanding, provide for the common computer user, promote the general goodness of Linux and other OS's, and secure the Blessings of Linus to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Website for the Linux Newbies--Linuxnewbie.org" -sensei@linuxnewbie.org
[-NHF's-]
A NHF is a "Newbieized Help File". The concept was developed by Sensei, the owner and admin of LNO. What LNO and many of the forum users are creating is a new form of documentation for newbies-advanced users.
