Linux-Mandrake RPM Applications
  • DEVEL MAILLING LIST

Firtsly, you might want to consider subscribing to our developpers mailling-lists.

  • UPLOAD

A lot of applications still remain in .tar.gz format. We need to have them in RPM format for FTP contribs, as well as for putting them inside Linux-Mandrake itself. From now, you can add your own packages on ftp://ftp.linux-mandrake.com/incoming/

Please announce your upload on devel@linux-mandrake.com and contact lenny@mandrakesoft.com for more information.

  • NEEDS

Actually, there is a big need of packaged KDE applications! A lot of KDE apps (from which koffice) remain in .tar.{gz|bz2} format.

  • GUIDELINE FOR MANDRAKE RPMs:

Please consider having a look at our Mandrake RPM HOWTO - and use it!

You can also use our generic .spec file. For most stuff, filling in the empty fields should be enough to create a working RPM.

Chmouel has a mode to work more easily with Emacs or Xemacs, take it from
    ftp://ftp.mandrakesoft.com/pub/chmou/rpm-spec-mode-mdk.spec
to use it set up your ~/.emacs with :

        (setq auto-mode-alist
              (append '(("\\.spec$" . rpm-spec-mode)) auto-mode-alist))

    Enjoy!

For any information you want on the work on RPM packages, please contact lenny@mandrakesoft.com
