 Nagma turns producer
The ‘Art of Living’ course has changed actress Nagma completely. So much so that today she speaks about meditation and devotion. Armed with lot of experience in the art of living, she is travelling to Singapore to conduct a six-day course on her new assignment.

With over 100 films to her credit in various languages in her decade long career, Nagma is now contemplating on producing a film and a television serial. “This is an entertainment media. Through it, I would like to convey a few messages to a wide section of people,” informed the actress on the sets of the Kannada film Hrudayavantha. This is her second film with director P Vasu and first film opposite Vishnuvardhan.

Explaining the reasons for her interest in yoga and devotion, Nagma said, “I was a level-headed person during my college days. I wanted to take up Business Management but accidentally, I became an actress and in these ten years, many inevitable things happened to me that at one point of time, I realised that money was not everything. To gain peace and contentment, the course of Art of Living by Sri Sri Ravishanker helped me a lot. After that a transition has taken place in my life. Now I even teach this course. And as a teacher, I have travelled to various cities in India and my first trip as a teacher will be to Singapore. This year, I will be taking classes in London and US too. I have students ranging from age seven to 40. Through Art of Living, control over the mind and self-confidence is attained after following certain guidelines.”

Tata Elxsi Media Works towards 5 million turnover
The prestigious Tata Elxsi Limited from the house of Tata group that offer services in the divisions of product design service, design engineering and system integration has its headquarters in Bangalore since one year. It is aiming to make five million rupees in the next 18 months. The Regional Manager of Tata Elxsi, K Chandrasekhar is operating with a team of 70 technicians and is catering to film and television. The Tata Elxsi has already transferred its thoughts for films like the Rs five crore project titled Hollywood, starring Upendra and Felicity, Freaky Chakra, Bangalore Bundh, Sri Krishnaleele, Kathegalu Saar Kathegalu and emerging as a competitive and cost effective unit. The company, supported by a strong network with over 16 branches in design services, is supported by state-of-the-art design and development centres in Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram in India. Tata Elxsi’s local presence in the USA, UK, Germany and Japan assures easy access to the company’s global customers as well. It caters in services in 3D animation designs, animated feature films, animated TV series etc.

Mediaworks is a separate division of Tata Elxsi focussing on providing animation, special effects and games development. We are expanding our facilities in pace with the ongoing business requirement. The focus is on providing visual effects for feature films from Hollywood and Bollywood. Our technical team employing the most sophisticated tools with bright talent and proven quality processes informs Chandrasekhar at Tata Elxsi Richmond Road office in Bangalore. After showing the animation and special effects done as per the production schedule of clients Chandrasekhar explained that the special effects, titling, animation, composing, morphing and other skills are possible in Tata Elxsi.

The special effects we find in Hollywood movies could be definitely created in India as well. You can use special effects to enhance a scene by visually enriching it or making it gory or even subtly improving a scene (Tom Hanks shaking President JF Kennedy’s hands in Forrest Gump). Earlier it was not possible to create special effects to the extent it is now.

Today, it has become an integral part of story telling since the audience expects fast paced, visually enriching effects. The Indian film industry is increasingly getting into special effects and to meet this demand, Media Works is fully equipped with the best creative and engineering talent, said Chandrasekhar. “For every episode, our output is about one minute and we have projects from Bollywood and Hollywood for a span of 18 months. By November this year, Tata Elxsi would be finishing 12 Bollywood films. We offer a bigger comfort zone. We are still at the gestation period and have set our goals to lead the market. Our motto is to give advice and make the customers comfortable. The technology has also advanced from analogue to digital. This is the time for giving convincing details to match the audience taste and we are always here to suit the market requirements,” promises Chandrasekhar who heads the Bangalore branch.
