Exhibition of paintings:

Shilpa R Patil continues an exhibition of her paintings at the Espresso Gallery Cafe Coffee Day, Prestige Meridian M G Road, Commercial Street, Koramangala and Brigade Road in the City till tomorrow. 
The elements in Shilpa’s work involve icons from traditional leather puppetry of Karnataka.

Graphic work on bags:
Alliance Francaise de Bangalore and the Embassy of France in India present an exhibition ‘Bag from India’ by French artist Pascal Colrat at Atrium, Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, Vasanthnagar in the City from Wednesday (19th March) till the 29th of this month. 
The exhibition of 50 graphic works printed on cloth bags is the artist’s impression of India as a country as he sees it. Pascal studied at the Ecole Nationale Suerieure des Beaux-Arts in France and is the recipient of many awards. He has received grant from the French Ministry of Arts, Paris and has a permanent collection at the ‘Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe’ in Hamburg, Germany.

Paintings on show:
Rightlines Art Gallery continues an exhibition of paintings in oil on paper by Sanjiv Kumar Das and acrylic on silk by Sudhir Kumar Meher till the 22nd of this month at its premises on 80 Feet Road, HAL III Stage in the City. Dance recitals:

As part of Smt Rukmini Devi Arundale’s birth centenary celebrations, Kalakshithi presents various dance programmes at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road in the City.
The schedule is as follows:
The students of Kalakshithi present dance recital today (14th March), 6 pm at the same venue. 
Artistes from Kalakshithi present Purandara Dasa dance tomorrow (15th March), 6 pm at the same venue. 
The Kalamandalam Kathakali dance group from Kerala presents ‘Duryodhana Vadham’ a dance-drama on Sunday (16th March), 6 pm at the same venue.

Creative ballet:
Shristi Centre of Performing Arts presents ‘Nitya Satya Sharana Sahitya’ a socio-classic creative ballet based on vachanas by A V Sathyanarayana at Bangalore Advocates Literary Union, Behind Cauvery Bhavan in the City on Thursday (20th March), 2:30 pm.

DRAMA
English play:

Black Coffee presents the play “Procession”, directed by Preetam Koilpillai today (14th March) and tomorrow, 7:30 pm at the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore in the City. 
“Procession”, as the name suggests, looks at the different kinds of processions that pass through Indian streets like marriage, funeral and political processions and all the different interpretations and avatars of a procession. This play by Badal Sircar is translated by Samik Bandyopadhyay.
Tickets are priced at Rs 100 and are available at Supermarket, Brigade Road and all Java City outlets in the City. 

MUSIC
Endowment concert:

As part of the above said, Smt Gayathri Girish presents vocal recital on Sunday (16th March), 5 pm at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K R Road in the City.
She will be accompanied by V Sanjeev on violin, Poongulam Subramanyam on mrudangam and S Karthik on ghatam.

Seminar on music:
MES Kalavedi and Percussive Arts Centre present a seminar on ‘Role of mrudanga in Bharatanatya’ tomorrow (15th March), 4:30 pm and on Sunday (16th March), 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, at New Conference Hall, MES College, Malleswaram in the City.

French film festival:

Suchitra Film Society in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Bangalore will be conducting a French film festival at Badami House in the City from Sunday (16th March) to Wednesday. 
The festival aimed at presenting a portrait of French cinema before the new millennium show the diversity and growth of directors like Patrice Chereau and Cedric Klapish among others. 
The films to be screened at the venue include Ceux qui m’aiment prendront le train by Patrice Chereau, Peut-etre by Cedric Klapish, Marius et Jeannette by Robert Guediguian and Conte d’ Automne by Erick Rohmer.

Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, the Embassy of France in India and the Bangalore Film Society will also be presenting a festival of four film in 16 mm of the French Noir genre at the auditorium, Alliance Francaise de Bangalore in the City from Thursday (20th March) to 25th of this month. Film noire, discovered and named by two French film critics in 1946, refers to the dark look and mood of an American film style, largely influenced or created by German or Austrian directors. The films to be screened at the venue include La Chinoise by Jean-Luc Godard, Le Samourai by Jean-Pierre Melville, Melodie en sous-sol by Michel Magne and Sous les toits de Paris by ReneClair. Exquisite prints:
Crafts Council of Karnataka continues an exhibition-cum-sale of exquisite hand-woven and block-printed Sai-silk and cotton sarees and salwars designed by Vasanthi of Sri Sai Creations, Chennai at Sribhoomi, 37, 17th Cross, Malleswaram in the City till Sunday (16th March).

Course on ceramics:
