Talikattuva Shubhavele
S N DEEPAK
Kannada (Kalpana, Uma, Nandini, Srinivasa,
Vishal)
Cast: Kumar Bangarappa, Sudharani, Naveen Krishna, Dwarakish, Shivaram
Director: N R K Vishwanath
There have been a good number of sentimental films in Kannada. And this film, directed by journalist N R K Vishwanath, is the latest one.
The story revolves around Jyothi (Sudharani), her engagement and how she faces the problems that come up after her fiance Jeevan (Kumar Bangarappa) dies in an accident on the marriage day.
The dramatic turns continue in the story and the film ends in a lengthy, unexpected climax.
Debutante director Vishwanath narrates the story by balancing sentimental and non-sentimental characters like Jyothi’s father Loku (Dwarakish) and a rowdy Kamal (Shobharaj) who finally marries her.
The helplessness of a young girl in a male dominated society has been brought out through Jyothi’s character. But finally, it is humanity which wins.
The screenplay is good. The turns in the story are really dramatic and unexpected like Jeevan’s accident, Kamal’s identity and the climax. Sudharani’s performance deserves appreciation. Dwarakish has put in a good effort. A child artiste who plays her younger brother’s role impresses.
Music by Robin Gurang and Cinematography by Sathya Hegde are impressive while editing is sharp.
