All night Yaksha mela to be  held on Sept 27  
SHIMOGA:
All night (24 hour) Yakshagana mela ‘Kalyanotsava 2003’ has been organised on Sept 27 at Kumvempu Rangamandir. In this mela which is said to be first of its kind in history, teams from different parts of the state are participating

Plea to check sale of hooch in Dharmapur 
DHARMAPUR:
Residents of the village have urged the government to check the sale of hooch being sold openly in the town. Hooch is being sold at a lower price, which attracted many people, especially youths in this border town. 

Bangarappa verdict:  Congmen celebrate 
SHIMOGA:
Various organisations in the district belonging to the parent Congress party celebrated the CBI special court verdict in connection with former chief minister S Bangarappa’s Classik Computer case. 

Autorickshaw drivers in Kodagu dt stage protest 
MADIKERI:
Auto drivers of the district staged a massive protest rally against the rule making it compulsory for meters to be installed in autorickshaws here on Friday. 

Govt to waive Rs 39.26 cr interest amount 
CHIKMAGALUR:
Law Minister D B Chandregowda said that by waiving 39.26 crore interest on 121 crore loan taken by coffee growers of Chikmagalur, Hassan and Madikeri from District Banks the government has initiated the revitalisation work of these banks.

HC bench: G’barga bundh peaceful 
GULBARGA:
Gulbarga bundh call given by the Republic Party of India (RPI) in association with various organisations, demanding to set up the High Court bench in Gulbarga, today passed off peacefully
