    Sponsored by the Illinois State Library, Illinois LINCS supports adult literacy programs throughout the state and provides referrals for both learners and volunteers. Use the program's Illinois Adult Learning Hotline or online information request form to find English as a second language (ESL) classes near your home or work.

    The City Colleges of Chicago offer English as a second language classes as well as courses that prepare one to take the U.S. naturalization exam. Courses are free of charge to Illinois residents.
