Is the Iraq War Blood for Oil? Email Print

In a letter to the Seattle Times Jim Corey of Seattle wrote:

"I am horrified by the war.  Having been a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army ... I am now at my wit's end as to what to do about this catastrophic situation our country and the world is in ...

"A fundamental lesson in all military strategy is to know your enemy, and not be afraid to engage him diplomatically.  It creates the baseline on which to create a solution.  Why won't they be diplomats?"

This is an interesting question and the answer might not be as mysterious as it may seem.  First, this Iraq War was based on lies.

Are There Any Ethics Left in How Government Operates? Email Print

This is a question mark that haunted me as I observed the outpouring of love, respect and the series of funerals honoring former President Gerald Ford.

Vice President Cheney delivered an emotional farewell, crediting Ford with healing the potential divisiveness in the United States if Nixon had not been pardoned.

The question that troubles me is who gave Gerald Ford the power to pardon a president who had launched war in Cambodia on his own personal agenda, minus the approval of Congress?

This Cambodia bombing spree was waged in a similar fashion to Bush's Iraq War debacle.  There is no healing for either Nixon's Cambodia onslaught or Bush's Iraq War horror.

"It is only in folk tales, children's stories, and the journals of intellectual opinion that power is used wisely and well to destroy evil. The real world teaches very different lessons, and it takes willful and dedicated ignorance to fail to perceive them."

--Noam Chomsky

With the intensity of Dale Earnhardt, Jr vying for victory in the Daytona 500, America's mainstream media outlets have been racing furiously to imbue the citizenry of the Empire with unusually large doses of heavily choreographed agitprop.

Reminiscing About the Future: George Bush's Resignation Speech On September 11, 2007 Email Print

The diary below was originally posted earlier today in my blog the Intrepid Liberal Journal.

It appears Democrats will prevail this November and become the majority party in the House of Representatives. Republicans are likely to retain their majority in the Senate - although severely narrowed. John Conyers the ranking Democrat of the House Judiciary Committee has signaled his willingness to impeach President Bush if given the chance. Vice President Cheney may elude this fate if impeachable offenses can't be linked to his office. Legally, the President is the "decider" regardless of the Vice President's influence. Below is a dramatization of what may transpire using the PBS News Hour as a vehicle. The date is September 11, 2007.
