Is Obama a Genuine Democrat or a Closet Republican? Email Print

The April 6, 2009 Newsweek Magazine featured Paul Krugman on its cover with this bold-faced black headline "Obama is Wrong!"

The feature story by Evan Thomas left no doubt about Paul Krugman's background qualifying him to speak out on what is happening now to the U.S. economy.  Thomas explained:

"Paul Krugman has all the credentials of a ranking member of the East Coast liberal establishment:  A column in the New York Times, a professorship at Princeton, a Nobel Prize in Economics."

"In his twice a week column and his blog, conscience of a liberal, he criticizes the Obamaites for trying to prop up a financial system that he regards as essentially a dead man walking.  In conversation, he portrays Tim Geithner and other top officials as, in effect, tools of Wall Street.

Bush's Hollow Boast: "Our economy is doing well!" Email Print

During this Republican controlled administration 75 percent of the economy has been reliant on the home building industry.

Following the stock market's high tech stock crash investors ran for cover.  When the feds lowered the interest rate to the lowest level in 60 years, the housing market took off for the home building industry.

The low labor costs of hiring non-union illegal immigrants, coupled with destroying currency value, provided a formula made in heaven for builders.  Unionized labor demanding a living wage, health care costs and unemployment insurance was always a painful thorn in the flesh of businessmen, whose motto was profits any way you can make a buck.

It worked out this way.  The U.S. taxpayer could fund the cost of educating the children of illegal immigrants along with supplying Medicaid, phenomena that must have been created in some Republican fat cat heaven.  This was a superb subsidization formula for the rich to get richer in the building industry.

OUTRAGEOUS Corporate Welfare Email Print

It's a good thing the executives of the pharmaceutical industry have unfettered access to cholesterol-fighting drugs, because the Republican-controlled Congress just handed their companies enough Medicaid-related pork to give the bastards heart conditions.

What am I saying? Those sociopathic f**ks don't have hearts.

As part of a House budget bill that reduces spending on Medicaid prescription drugs, pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Co. and other businesses secured a provision ensuring that their mental health drugs continue to fetch top price at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars to the states.

The provision -- inserted by Rep. Steve Buyer (R-Ind.), whose district flanks Lilly's Indianapolis headquarters -- would largely exempt antipsychotic and antidepressant medications from a larger measure designed to steer Medicaid patients to the least expensive treatment options.

At a time when states are seeing less federal dollars due to the Bush Junta's tax cuts for the wealthy, a time when many people on Medicaid have to choose between buying food or buying medication, after five years of medication costs not just rising but skyrocketing past inflation, the GOP decides to show "compassion" to a multi-billion dollar industry, wrecking millions of live in the process.

How is it that Congressional Republicans haven't been lynched yet?
