Maureen Dowd was in Los Angeles last night promoting her new book, Are Men Necessary? She came to Temple Emanuel in Beverly Hills to have a discussion with Aaron Sorkin the creator of the West Wing. He wasn't terrific but she was. She talked a lot about the roles of women in Hollywood and the roles Hollywood creates for women.
She saved some scathing comments for the Q & A at the end. She didn't disappoint.
On her visit a few years ago to Saudi Arabia:
"Saudi Arabia is the sickest country I've ever visited."
On Judy Miller and Bob Woodward:
"I don't get why Woodward and Judy get information and don't put it in the paper? If I have information I would give it to my readers."
On surviving the next three years:
"Cheney has to go. There has to be some way to get him out of there and Bush listening to his dad."
On Bushco:
"We've lost all moral influence after these past five years."
