Pakistan Represents Another Bush Failure Email Print

The September 3, 2007 edition of Time Magazine contained an article by Simon Robinson from Islamabad, Pakistan's capital city, in which he wrote:

"Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf's political survival is at stake, a crucial U.S. ally in the war on terror is forced to contemplate a deal doomed to fail."

This prophetic statement came true November 3, when Pakistan's president faced a shattering political crisis.  When the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared Pakistan's present president had not obtained his presidency legitimately.  

President Perez Musharraf disposed of the Supreme Court Chief rapidly, calling for guards to be placed around the judge's residence.  In this "emergency crisis" as Musharraf labeled it television and telephone calls were suspended.
