Looks like another Reagan legacy refuses to die. This time? Star Wars.

The Pentagon wants Congress to give them some cash to build Weapons of Mass Science Fiction.

"What's your candidate's stance on Iraq?" I asked.  "Where does Iraq rank in his top issues?"

"Well, ummm, in 2004, the focus groups told us we shouldn't really dwell on that issue."  (Nervous laughter throughout the room)

I wasn't laughing.

Asshole, I thought.  Tell the Iraqi families about your damn focus group.

My son was seated next to me, reading a Star Wars book.  I looked over at him and he gave me a look, as if to say, "Leave it alone, dad."  He's only seven, but he knew the look on my face.  And somehow, I think he recognized the sound of a half-truth just as easily as I did.
