The Greatest Nation in the World? Email Print

If you've heard the political candidates say it once you have heard them say it like clock work every year they are running for office:  The U.S.A. is the greatest nation in the world!

The U.S.A. is approximately 232 years old.  Greece lasted approximately 400 years.  Rome lasted nearly 600 years.  So, obviously in length of time the U.S. has a way to go to match either Greece or Rome in longevity.  But sadly the U.S. is now in somewhat of a downward spiral.

After World War II there was no doubt about the fact that the U.S. contribution in manpower and funding did turn the tide of the Nazi rampage.  The Marshall Plan helped mightily to restore Europe and England, which had been devastated by Nazi bombing missions.

With over 50 million dead as a result of World War II it was hoped that world leaders would recognize at last that going to war and bombing the hell out of designated nations does not solve problems.
