Professional Scrum Master I (Fundamental) Assessment

This assessment of fundamental Scrum knowledge is available to anyone who wishes to demonstrate his or her knowledge and achieve certification. While taking a Professional Scrum Master 2-day Course is highly recommended, if you feel you already possess a high level of Scrum knowledge, you have the option to take the PSM I Assessment directly.

Individuals demonstrating an acceptable level of knowledge (85% or higher) will be issued certification and listed as Professional Scrum Master I. The PSM I assessment is grounded in the Scrum Body of Knowledge at Scrum.org, but is quite difficult. Parts of the assessment may ask the taker to think about or interpret the meaning from the Scrum Guide. Or, in some cases, apply their own experience.

Basic Steps

To take this assessment, we suggest that you follow these steps:

1) Read our preparation section Ways to Learn About Scrum.

2) Register for the assessment using the "Register For The PSM I Assessment" link above. The fee for the assessment is $100, which entitles you to one attempt. We will email you a password within one business day. (If you do not receive your password, please email support @ scrum.org.)  You will then have 14 days in which to take the assessment.

3) Schedule 60 minutes when you will not be interrupted.

4) Click the "Take The PSM I Assessment" link above and enter the password that we emailed you to begin the 80-question assessment.

Please note that we process certification results on a weekly basis. If you pass the PSM I assessment but do not receive a certificate or see your name on the certification list after 7-10 business days, please email support @ scrum.org.

Professional Scrum Master II (Intermediate) Assessment

This assessment of intermediate Scrum knowledge and skill is open to anyone who has passed the PSM I assessment and wishes to demonstrate his or her ability to apply Scrum to solve complex problems. You should have in-depth Scrum experience and/or have taken the Professional Scrum Master course prior to taking this assessment. The assessment consists of multiple-choice questions, case study questions, and essays. Some of the questions will be graded automatically; others, including essay questions, will be graded by hand. Consequently, your results will not be available immediately after you take the exam. Individuals who demonstrate an acceptable level of knowledge and skill (85% or higher) will be issued certification and listed as Professional ScrumMaster II.

Basic Steps

To take the assessment, we suggest that you follow these steps:

1) You have completed and passed the Professional Scrum Master I Assessment.

In most cases, knowledge from other sources is required including, but not limited to, that gained from personal experience.
