Summary

While not a separately researchable technology, missile is the name used to describe medium, large and special mounted, long-range, tracking Ballistic Weapons. They will always hit their target unless they run out of fuel or are shot down. They can be drawn off course by Wild Weasel ships.

Warhead research increases the damage of all ship, platform and planetary missiles without requiring new ships to be constructed by simply switching the payload carried. Other research can boost the speed and maneuvering capabilities of missile systems making them a versatile and effective long range weapon. These new technologies are also applied automatically, without requiring new ships to be constructed.
