Revamp

I've made some major edits to this page in terms of organization and some larger edits than normal in wording for a clearer and smoother flow to the page.

I linked some words based on the context used. The first paragraph of the Societal Interations section is the best example of this.

Tell me what you guys think, and please do make edits if I've made errors. --The Writer2 17:16, 5 January 2006 (EST)

Distillation?

Warrior Hiver are capable of delivering massive damage to organic targets even when unarmed, capable of ripping their opponents apart in short order.

Hiver carapace armor is not all that similar to wood or bone. It's much more like the composites from which we construct stealth aircraft, or -in the case of a warrior Hiver- the chobham armor we use to protect the M-1 Abrams tank.

The vulnerable spots of a warrior Hiver may not be conveniently placed, with its eyes up to fifteen feet off the ground. It will certainly try to evade any strike - and make you pay for coming within range of its forelimbs, any one of which could easily cut a Human in half.

Human martial artists have the edge in speed and agility over most warrior Hiver and could thus avoid closing with a warrior Hiver, but without a weapon capable of overcoming the reach of the warrior Hiver are unlikely to inflict any serious damage.

Tarkasian females and pre-change males are proportionately faster and stronger than the average Human. All in all though, against a warrior Hiver the Tarka would be wiser to try to evade until a weapon or an avenue of escape presents itself.

A Tarkasian male after completing the Change is a closer match for a warrior Hiver, having the edge in speed, agility and strength, ceding armour and endurance to the warrior Hiver. Even then a direct strike on the main carapace is unlikely to do sufficient damage, requiring the Tarka male to go for limbs and head first.

A Tarka's tail is typically capable of being used in combat, effecting a tail-strike with the impact of a club given sufficient impetus such as after a well-executed whirl. A Tarka can survive the loss of his or her tail, so long as a tourniquet is quickly applied. The tail doesn't grow back naturally, so the tail would have to be re-attached surgically or regrown with an advanced tissue knitting technique.

Humans and Tarkas evolved in somewhat similar conditions, and we are both bipedal, etc.. Relative to Hivers and Liir, Tarkas and Humans are very similar.

Both species war extensively among themselves, and can be incredibly ruthless and cruel even to members of their own species. This tendency could be suppressed or unleashed in relations between the two species as well - so they will get along as well as they choose to, at any given time.

Additional Hiver vs. Human data

If a human could get the opportunity, they might be able to apply enough force to break a leg or sever a forelimb. A severed warrior forelimb would give the human a formidable weapon and even the playing field a bit. Avy
