"Approaching Galactica's flak barrier. Cylon target within gun range." — Racetrack
Description: | A heavy driver that hurls a container that detonates at a set distance and sprays the area with hyper-velocity shrapnel. Very good at damaging tight groups of small enemy ships. Like all mass-driver weapons, bursters push the target off-course. |

Required Technology: | Mass Drivers AND Cruiser Construction |
Races Allowed: | Hiver, Human, Liir, Morrigi, Tarka, Zuul |
Effect: | The in-game description says that Bursters are designed for use against Destroyers but they actually work best against larger targets. The main round produces a minuscule amount of damage and a considerable amount of kinetic energy, shoving the vessel off course. Burster fire is recognizable by the smaller balls of matter that are equivalent to the rounds from Mass Drivers. Each burster round will release 12 rounds in a sphere from the center of the burst. Damage depends on how many of the smaller rounds impact the target(s) They have a noticeably reduced chance (-100%) of ricocheting off of ship armor. |
Notes: | The damage listed below is per Burster submunition. |
