Morrigi is pronounced MOR-REE-GEE (with a hard G — as in Grunt). It roughly translates as “Travelers” in the proto-Creole known as the Trade Language (there is some indication that the word may have other shades of meaning in the Morrigi dialects which remain untranslated).

The "sh" and "z" phonemes both exist and are distinct all known variants of their language.

Kragodai. Present passive participle of the verb "to scream as in pain", here an adjective used substantively and declined as a masculine plural. Literally, then: "those who are made to scream".

Suul and Zul are words that describe different races in the Morrigi language

-igi – the tribal suffix that indicates a collective identity.

"Qu'aan" is an all-purpose term based on the Morrigi verb "aaneia", "to lead". Morru is a prefix which distinguishes the Morru Qu'aan (meaning “First Among Travelers”) from other qu'aanigi--the Morru Qu'aan leads all the people, at all times, whereas a "zo'qu'aan" leads the people who are present at the time, provisionally, because he is the worthiest among them. Roughly translated, "zo'qu'aan" might be taken as "king-for-a-day", as the prefix "zo" indicates the present time, like the English word "now". There is not any specific word for "rank" among the Morrigi; the closest they can come to this concept as applied to their own people is "aanigi'dha", "worthiness-to-lead-people".

"athlos"--the word in Morrigi has the same connotation that "game", "trial", "suffering" and "ordeal" have for us. Someone trying to invoke the athlos or who has succeeded in invoking the athlos is called "athligi".

"hekademi" – Sites of Descent for those males who bring treasure in the form of ideas, revelations, arguments and evidence of interest to scholars. They are essentially large educational centers, and some hekademi specialize in certain areas.

To use the term "Yzhe" is the highest honor that a male Morrigi can bestow upon another being, and carries many connotations--the primary being that an "Yzhe" is one who not only conquers but humbles and shames an opponent. The word "Yzhe" is used both for highly formidable warriors and highly formidable females.

"Aiskos"--a right to silence, literally "disfigurement", but more figuratively "disgrace". No Morrigi is socially obligated within his or her culture to speak of a subject which causes shame.

Naming

Morrigi nomenclature has a great deal in common with per-Homeric Greek, but acceptable "Morrigi-sounding" names can also be drawn from Mayan and Mongol sources.
