I keep them outside and the lids stay on and they don't blow away since they are so heay duty. I don't love the colors they are pretty bright but having the different colors helps my kids keep track of which bin to use as well. The best feature is the front of the lids that lifts up, it keeps the stuff in and the rain out! 04/12/2011
