Returns FAQ

Merchandise sold and shipped by Walmart.com may be returned either to a store or by mail. Most items can be returned within 90 days of receiving it. The chart below lists exceptions to this policy as well as instructions on how to return certain types of items.

Note: Items must be returned in the original manufacturer's packaging, so we recommend you keep your packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase.

Exceptions to the 90-Day Return Policy:

CLOTHING, SHOES & ACCESSORIES
  • Merchandise must be returned unworn, with tickets attached and accompanied by the original invoice.
BOOKS, MOVIES & VIDEO GAMES
  • Books: Must be returned unused and unmarked.
  • CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, audiotapes, videotapes and video games: Must be returned unopened. If the item is defective, it can be returned within 90 days with a receipt and the original packaging. Defective items may be exchanged for the same title.
  • Video on Demand: Cannot be returned. All sales are final and all charges from those sales are nonrefundable, except as otherwise stated in the VUDU Inc., Terms of Service.
  • Video Games Hardware: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.
  • Pre-Owned (Refurbished) Video Game Software: Defective items can be returned within 90 days with a receipt and the original packaging. Defective items may be exchanged for a different title if the same title is not available.
ELECTRONICS
  • Computers & Computer Hardware: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.
  • Computer software: Must be returned unopened.
  • Camcorders and digital cameras: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.
  • GPS units, digital music players, e-tablets, e-readers and portable video players: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.
FUNERAL PRODUCTS
  • Caskets, Urns and Memorial Jewelry: Funeral products cannot be returned to a store. We will only refund or replace funeral items due to manufacturing defects or damage incurred during shipping. Please email Customer Service to make arrangements.
GIFTS & FOOD
  • Electronic and plastic Gift Cards: Not returnable or refundable for cash, except in states where required by law.
  • Perishables (Food): Perishable items cannot be returned by mail or to a Walmart store. If you receive a damaged or defective perishable item, please email Customer Service with the following information and an associate will be happy to help you:
    • Order number for the item
    • Date of arrival
    • Condition of item at time of arrival
    • Detailed explanation of the issue
    • If you prefer a refund or replacement
HEALTH & BEAUTY
  • If the item is designated as ORM-D (Other Regulated Materials-Domestic), it must be returned in its original package. If returning by mail, it must have secure ORM-D packaging obtained from the post office. ORM-D items include perfumes, nail polish and aerosol cans. You will see an Important Note regarding ORM-D when printing out a return label from My Account if your item falls into this category.
HOME & GARDEN
  • Oversize Furniture, Mattresses, and Outdoor Play items: May be returned to a store or by freight shipping. Under some circumstances, you may be charged for return shipping. To return an item by freight, please email Customer Service for assistance. They will also be able to inform you of any return shipping costs.
  • Air Mattresses and Airbeds: Unopened items with a receipt may be returned for refund or exchange within 15 days. Opened items with receipt may be exchanged within 15 days for same item or credit towards a future purchase. Defective airbeds may be exchanged within 90 days of purchase for the same airbed or for credit towards an airbed of equal or greater value.
  • Gas-powered items, including but not limited to lawn mowers and pressure washers, must be returned within 30 days with a receipt to obtain a refund or exchange. Cannot be returned by mail, due to carrier restrictions. Must be completely emptied of any flammable liquid (gas, oil) if you return the item to a store.
  • Plants may be returned to a store, but cannot be returned by mail. If you receive a damaged plant please email Customer Service with the following information and an associate will be happy to help you:
    • Order number for the item
    • Date of arrival
    • Condition of item at time of arrival
    • Detailed explanation of the issue
    • If you prefer a refund or replacement
HOME IMPROVEMENT
  • Air Conditioners & Evaporative Coolers: Must be returned within 30 days and accompanied by the original invoice or receipt.
  • Lawn mowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, compressors, pressure washers and generators: Must be returned within 30 days and accompanied by the original receipt. Must be completely emptied of any flammable liquid (gas, oil) if you return the item to a store.
  • Tools: Generators, Pressure Washers: Must be returned within 30 days and accompanied by the original receipt.
INSTALLATION SERVICES
  • If you no longer require installation services or other service plans, please email Customer Service with your order number.
JEWELRY
  • All jewelry, including fine jewelry, may be returned to a Walmart store with a receipt. If you choose to exchange the item in-store, you may only exchange for an item that is in stock at that store; the exact same piece may not be available.
  • Return fine jewelry (pieces that cost $300 and above) by mail: Depending on the reason for the return, you may be responsible for paying the return shipping charge. Please email Customer Service for more information.
MUSIC
  • CDs and DVDs: Must be returned unopened.
  • Music Downloads: Cannot be returned. All sales are final and all charges from those sales are nonrefundable, except as otherwise stated in the Music Downloads Terms of Service.
PHARMACY
  • Diabetic supplies: Cannot be returned. All sales are final. Please contact the manufacturer if you have any questions regarding defective items. Check your package for the manufacturer's name and contact information.
  • Prescription medications: If you have a question about returning prescription medication, please contact your local store pharmacist, or, if you have used Home Delivery, contact our mail facility at 1-800-273-3455.
PHOTO
PREPAID PHONES & CARDS
  • Prepaid cellular phone cards & electronically fulfilled PINs or minutes: No returns or refunds.
  • Prepaid cell phones and post paid cell phones: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.
TIRES
  • Tires: Most tires that have never been mounted or used can be returned to the Customer Service desk of a Walmart store that has a Tire & Lube Express. Stores without a Tire & Lube Express cannot accept tires.

    Walmart stores cannot accept returns for tires that have been used or for snow tires in any condition.

TOYS, SPORTS & FITNESS
  • Oversize table games and treadmills: May be returned to a Walmart store or by freight shipping. Under some circumstances, you may be charged for return shipping. To return an item by freight, please email Customer Service for assistance. They will also be able to inform you of any return shipping costs.
  • Autographed sports memorabilia: Must be returned with the included Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Air Mattresses and Airbeds: Unopened items with a receipt may be returned for refund or exchange within 15 days. Opened items with receipt may be exchanged within 15 days for same item or credit towards a future purchase. Defective airbeds may be exchanged within 90 days of purchase for the same airbed or for credit towards an airbed of equal or greater value.
  • Swimming pools: Must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
WARRANTIES
WINDOW BLINDS
  • All factory errors will be fixed at no charge. We will send you replacement parts or replacement blinds. If your blinds are damaged or defective when you receive them, please email Customer Service.

To return an item to a Walmart store

Bring the item, packing slip and all original packing materials and accessories to any Walmart store. If you do not have the original packing slip, print out an Easy Returns Receipt from My Account.

High-value and oversized items can be returned to a Walmart store, unless noted in the Return Guidelines by Department chart above. If you prefer to return an item by mail, please follow these instructions:

High-value items (a single item that costs $300 or more or two or more of the same product that total $300 or more) and orders must be shipped via a shipping carrier designated by Walmart.com. Please email Customer Service, and a customer service associate will help you with the return process.

Oversize items such as large furniture, mattresses, play sets, oversize table games, and treadmills must be shipped by freight. To return an oversize item, please email Customer Service and an associate will help you with the return process.

To ensure that your high-value or oversize item return is processed correctly, please follow these packing instructions:

  1. Box the item securely.
  2. Include the packing slip, all original packaging and all accessories.
  3. Tape the box closed.
  4. Follow the return instructions given to you by the customer service associate.

When the original item is received by Walmart, we will process your return request. If you are not requesting a replacement item, you will be credited for the applicable price and tax less any adjustments already processed. If there was an error on our part related to your order, we will issue a credit for your order and any applicable shipping and gift-wrapping charges.

Returns FAQ

You have two options for returning a gift that was shipped and sold by Walmart.com:

  1. Return the Gift to a Walmart Store
    An associate will issue a refund for the cost of the item and the sales tax, if applicable. The refund will be in the form of a store credit, cash, or credit to a credit or debit card depending on whether you have the receipt or if you are within the guidelines of the No Receipt return policy.
  2. Return or Replace the Gift by Mail
    When you return a gift by mail, the cost of the item and the sales tax, if applicable, will be credited to the original purchaser's payment method when we receive the item. A gift you received may be replaceable by mail, if the item is damaged, defective or incorrect.
Start a return

You cannot exchange a gift for a different item by mail. Please visit a store to see if an exchange is possible.

Returns FAQ

Due to safety hazards, special rules pertain to products that use flammable liquids or gases. In most cases, you will not be able to return the item through the mail.

Keep your original packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase. Some returns might require an item be placed in its original container; otherwise, special ORM-D packaging from the post office will be needed. (A postal worker can assist you.)

If you need to return a product that might fall into the hazardous materials category, you can check under the department of the item you purchased in our Returns Guidelines by Department section, listed above, under the department of the item you purchased. If you aren't sure which category applies to you, please email Customer Service for assistance.

Easy Returns

If your Order Details page in My Account shows the seller of your item to be anyone other than "Walmart.com" then you have purchased that item from one of our Marketplace Retailers.

Each Marketplace Retailer has its own customer service department and you must contact the Retailer directly if there is a problem with your order. These items cannot be returned to a Walmart store or to Walmart.com. You must return the item to the Marketplace Retailer in accordance with their returns policy.

Walmart.com Customer Service cannot track orders or process returns or replacements for items that were purchased from a Marketplace Retailer.

If you have already contacted the Marketplace Retailer and they have not resolved your problem, you can file a claim with Walmart.com. We will attempt to resolve the issue on your behalf, in accordance with our Walmart Marketplace Customer Service Policy, only if you have already attempted to work with the Marketplace Retailer.
