Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the wait Long awaited. This is the beginning of the ultimate battle between good and evil. We've waited so long for Edward and Bella to consummate their relationship that it was almost, but not quite, anti-climatic. The film grabbed the value of Bella's pre-wedding night jitters beautifully; I found myself chuckling as I did when I first read it. The love scene was chaste and it, too, shared the comedy I found in reading it in the book. The further I get into the movie version of this tale the more I become a Jacob-fan. I love Pattinson, have seen his other movies and appreciate him as an actor, but there is something about Jacob, especially in this movie that grabs me. I have waited for Lautner to "become" someone and in one scene he completely steals the movie. I rented this for 24 hours while I wait for my own copy to arrive. I can hardly contain myself waiting for November and the last segment of the saga to play out on the big screen. 02/11/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by sunshine66 Okay, so I read the series, years ago. I was inspired by Meyers since she had never written anything to be published before the Twilight series. When Breaking Dawn was first publicized to be in 2 parts, I was truly disappointed but only because a good story was being dragged out. What I realized that the last novel had to be broken up because it was quite long in its written form. I read other reviews and well, this sort of story has to appeal to the viewer. I rented it so as to not waste dollars on it since I was disappointed in the movie previous to this one. I think the director did a great job cutting out a lot of the unnecessary portions of the book. Each character has grown; but do I think that Bella could have been played by another, more interesting actress? Sure. In one respect Bella is this inexperienced young girl but on the other hand she seems more mature than most young teenagers. The wedding scene was okay, I would have preferred that the director spiced up Bella just a bit more - her nails were undone, her hair too simple and the drama of her walking down the aisle! I say, watch what you wish for cause you may get everything you want and more. The sound quality was a bit off as well, certain scenes sounded like a sound stage with a hollow tone to the voices. Jacob really stepped up to the plate in this flick and I imagine Taylor enjoyed making this movie just as much as the one before, if not more. Overall, the movie was well done but waiting for the last installment is ridiculous hence, the reason I would rather rent. I rated it excellent because the book was too detailed and the movie simplified it. Well done! 02/12/2012
