The title is enough to let you what to expect. It is a love story that takes an unexpected turn from the usual hurdles put up by film makers. Director HS Sahana has managed to weave a narrative that will be liked by those who love romantic films. There are some scenes that will upset family audience but in the end Rose proves to be the ambassador of love.
The film starts like a usual love story in a neighbourhood. There is no preliminary running around the tree as the couple are already in love. Their love story is hidden from the girl's family but before that the boy finds himself in a murder mystery that threatens his life and not just romance.
Ajay Rao and Shrvya make a good pair and make for a lovely romantic pair. Their on-screen interaction is worth a visit to the theatre. Some of the romantic scenes, especially the one that ends in a kiss, is excellent.
The first half of the film just establishes what problems the love could possible face. There is also comedy between Sadhu Kokila and Ajay's group of friends particularly Bullet Prakash. The first half tides over in this simplistic narrative. The turn comes with the murder of Thilak, a gym instructor. Ajay is convicted and his life collapses. But the truth is something else. His life is in danger and will the love survive this turmoil? That question is answered in the end.
The song, visually and in melody give Rose a gloss. Saikumar who returns to screen as a prison jailor is brilliant and adds great value to the film in the second half. Apart from the lead pair, it is Saikumar, Sadhu Kokila and Bullet Prakash who make the film good. As monsoon arrives, Rose is a perfect film to pep up romance.
