There are many films made claiming to be Children Film, but very few actually get such a certificate from the Censor Board. Sachin Tendulkar Alla is one such film. However it is not just a children's film for the sake of it. It is not made on a small budget for subsidy or awards. There is lot of money spent on it and this film is made keeping the audience in mind. There is a big star cast including the debut of former international cricketer Venkatesh Prasad. Snehit, who has made his mark as a child artiste plays the title role. The film is about a autistic child and his dream of playing cricket with normal kids. It is a feel good film that shows human values, determination to overcome odds and the triumph of human spirit over hurdles. Sachin is one of the best films for children as well as adults and without being preachy the film gives out a powerful message to the society. As such it is a perfect combination of entertainment and message. It is also an original film and director Mohan has given a very good contribution to Sandalwood this year.
Sachin is a autistic child whose only true well-wisher is his elder sister played by Suhasini. She has not married so that she can take care of him. He has another sister and a mother but they too do not have 100 per cent commitment to him. Sachin is diagnosed with brain tumor and doctor says his days are numbered. Suhasini then tries to fulfil his dream of playing in a cricket tournament. But when he is not even accepted in regular schools, how will he play a tournament? Dinesh, a cricket coach, played by Venkatesh Prasad, comes to the rescue. He puts his career on line to help Sachin. The film is not about the young kid living his dream, but how his family and friends help him achieve it. That is how the narrative becomes interesting and engrossing. In the end, you may be left with tears. But the film gives out an very good message about how to treat other people who may not be as fortunate as the rest of us.
Suhasini, Snehit and Sudharani as the school principal excel in their roles. Venkatesh Prasad is a little frigid in the beginning but soon gets into the character. There are no intrusive songs and they are placed into the narrative with ease. Credit should go to Mohan for making a film that does not go overboard. Though a little on the plus side in the emotions department, Sachin... is a beautiful film that every parent should take his kid to. Life is a gentleman's game and not war. The film shows how to lead a beautiful life.
