BOARD makes it possible for professionals to choose their data ‘engine’ type. Data may be stored in the proprietary multi-dimensional database (Multi-Dimensional Engine) or directly accessed in relational databases (Relational Engine). The Dual version combines both Multi-Dimensional and Relational Engines for the highest architectural and application flexibility. In all versions data maintenance and management doesn’t require any programming. In the end-user analysis application, whether the data sources are relational, multi-dimensional, or both blended together, it is invisible to the end-user.

  • The multi-dimensional database:
    speed and power

BOARD provides an integrated multi-dimensional database that guarantees speed and efficiency in information analysis and modeling. The BOARD database is capable of handling massive amounts of data (hundreds of millions of incoming records and dimensions with several million members) with amazing speed, without the typical limitations of M-OLAP products. Concurrent multi-user write-back, parent-child structure and a sophisticated, “sparse” model that provides unsurpassed data compression ratios all make the BOARD database a world class solution.

  • Relational data base access:
    versatility and real-time

In addition to providing a multi-dimensional integrated database, BOARD supports direct access to any relational database. Unlike other traditional Business Intelligence software applications, BOARD’s Relational Engine supports data write-back, allowing the exploitation of all native simulation functions that have fueled BOARD’s international success as a rapid application development tool for decision support. For example, a budgeting solution created with the ROLAP engine allows storage of the planning data directly inside the company’s relational data-warehouse.

  • Integrated ETL:
flexible and easy access to data

BOARD integrates all the capabilities required to handle data cleansing and standardization processes, thus eliminating the need to use specific products for Extraction, Transformation and Loading process (ETL). Thanks to its ETL integrated environment, validation and transformation rules can be defined and automatically applied during upload processing, making it simple to consolidate data from multiple data sources for use in your BI and CPM application.
