BENGALURU: City police passed through anxious moments after a 29 year old woman called her husband saying she has been kidnapped and later switched off her mobile. Investigations revealed that the woman is with her former boyfriend and alleged torture by her husband forced her to run away on Wednesday evening.
The drama enfolded on Wednesday night when Thomas Stalin, resident of MS Palya in Sadashivnagar, central Bengaluru approached police saying some 'stranger' kidnapped his wife after she boarded an auto near Vidhana soudha around eight pm.
"When called, my wife said she has been kidnapped in an auto and she was near BEL circle. I told her to jump from the auto. Few minutes later, the mobile was switched off," Thomas, a private company employee told police.
Senior police officers swung into action and three special teams were formed. "Control rooms flashed the messages, directing jurisdictional police to inspect all autos on road," a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, call detail records showed that the victim was travelling in Tamil Nadu. "It was then that we sensed foul play. We asked her husband about the persons she would be in contact with. One such number was that of her boyfriend and that number was also travelling in the same place in Tamil Nadu," police said.
