Techie arrested for raping physiotherapist in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 30-year-old physiotherapist working at a nursing home in Rajendranagar has lodged a complaint against a software engineer alleging that he had raped her in the past and recently began blackmailing her to fulfill his sexual desires.

Police took Manoj, 36, a software engineer from Bandlaguda Jagir, into custody. The victim, working as a physiotherapist at a nursing home in Hydershakote, is his neighbour.

The victim alleged that, in May and August, 2015, Manoj had raped her twice by sedating her by serving her with drug-laced soft drink after calling her to his house pretending he needed her services.

"According to the complainant, after the first incident of rape, Manoj began threatening to kill her and her family members if she did not meet him frequently. As the blackmailing from Manoj became unbearable, the victim lodged a complaint. We have sent her for medical examination," Rajendranagar inspector V Umender said.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Manoj under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

After the assault, the accused fled from the house and when the girl informed her parents about the incident, they lodged a complaint with police. Police sent the girl for medical examination. A rape case was registered against Mubashir and a manhunt was launched to nab him.
