Job fears at law firm.

REDUNDANCY fears have been raised at the Liverpool office of a legal firm which earlier this week reported losses of almost PS500m.

Australian-owned Slater & Gordon is reported to be considering office closures as part of a reorganisation.

It told the Australian stock exchange that it was likely "a number of current sites will close, with an unknown number of potential redundancies".

The firm operates three sites locally - in the city centre, at Brunswick Dock, and in Waterloo.

One member of staff said he been told that 36 staff members working in the Liverpool office were to be made redundant.

He said: "I think this is a disgrace, the way they have treated staff."

However, the firm declined to confirm redundancy plans for its network, saying staff will be told first.
