  • Pidgeon exhibition installation

    William Edwin Pidgeon was a painter, cartoonist, illustrator, and newspaper critic. This exhibition presents a selection of the over 400 works by William Pidgeon held in the Memorial’s Art collection , relating to Pidgeon’s Second World War experiences in Darwin, New Guinea, Borneo and Morotai between 1943 to 1945.

    On display in the Second World War Galleries from 6 March 2015. 

Travelling exhibitions

  • Behind the front lines of the Somme, Vignacourt was a staging point, casualty clearing station and recreation area for troops. Captured on glass, printed into postcards and posted home, these photographs enabled Australian soldiers to maintain a fragile link with loved ones in Australia.
