Twenty-four people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after an American Airlines plane developed a hydraulic fluid leak on a taxiway at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, an American Airlines and airport spokespeople confirmed to ABC News.
After the pilots called in an alert, the passengers -- many with burning eyes, itchy skin and difficulty breathing -- evacuated via emergency slides, according to the airport and the FAA.

The plane, an Airbus A320, was readying to take off for a trip to Philadelphia International Airport. Passengers that weren't taken to the hospital were bussed back to the terminal and rebooked.
In a statement, American apologized to its customers for the "maintenance issue."
