Summary Description

The vice president of sales position is responsible for leading the MI and Pro A/V sales divisions of Roland Corporation U.S. to meet company objectives for the world-renowned Roland, BOSS, and V-MODA brands. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of B2B independent and chain retail distribution models and a proven track record developing strategic sales plans based on goals that promote sales growth and customer satisfaction. This position is based in Los Angeles at the Roland U.S. headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals.
  • Creates a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
  • Manages sales teams and resources to deliver profitable growth.
  • Manages revenue and expense budgets.
  • Defines optimal sales force structure, hires and develops sales staff, and defines and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.
  • Defines and coordinates sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
  • Manages customer expectations and contributes to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Defines sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identifies improvements where and when required.
  • Puts in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales team.

Language Ability:

District Sales Manager — Professional A/V

Division: Sales
Territories: Southeast (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennesee)
Reports To: National Sales Manager

Summary Description

As the first point of contact to assigned resellers, direct customers and system specifiers in the territory, the District Sales Manager provides valuable resources in support of Roland’s products, strategy, and objectives to the resellers and direct customers. The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for accurate analysis of market-by-market territorial sales potential, establishing distribution for all product groups, developing the Roland reseller and customer’s business, monitoring sales results, and meeting company established individual sales budgets and objectives. The DSM will train reseller salespeople and system designers, assist with system designs and specifications, and help resellers with demonstrations to their customers and develop and implement Roland Sales Programs as requested and approved by management for Roland’s Professional A/V Division.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achievement of monthly sales budgets
  • Submit timely and accurate written reports (possibly including, but not limited to, dealer reports, bi-monthly market reports, sales forecast reports and travel itineraries) as requested by VP Sales and Marketing.
  • Achievement of marketing and sales objectives (Examples: tracking of new dealer activity, channel strategy goals, specification targets, dealer feedback, etc.) as assigned.
  • Maintain current credit accounts with dealers, assisting in the collection of money which is past due and obtaining current financial information from dealers as requested.
  • Visit existing and competitive resellers and direct customers and system specifiers on a regular schedule and conduct all business activity within the framework of Roland stated marketing philosophies. Travel should include an appropriate amount of reseller, direct customer, specifier, training, and prospect visits as directed by the National Sales Manager.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers in the territory including profiled customers and partner facilities

Employment Standards

Education/Experience: Previous successful live sound and event video product experience is required along with previous experience in system based, value engineered sales.

Skill/Knowledge: Strong sales, product demonstration, communication, and computer skills are desired. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required. Ability to spend travel up to 75% of time supporting the tasks assigned to you.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Dealer Retail Support/Inside Sales

Division: Dealer Support
Reports To: Director of Dealer Support

Summary Description

As a member of the Dealer Support group, this position works in conjunction with an assigned District Sales Manager (DSM) to support and develop Roland’s network of dealers, helping maintain and grow dealer relationships as well as increasing revenues. Handles dealer requests and presents specials; identifies and pursues opportunities to upsell whenever possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with assigned DSM, to accurately execute on sales development such as completing orders, reviewing account status, ensuring appropriate pricing, answering related questions, and solving problems.
  • Contact dealers with dormant accounts to identify opportunities to reactivate relationship. Work with DSM on potential strategies.
  • Accurately maintain dealer information and order records; provide related reports as requested.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all product as well as specials and programs.
  • Constantly alert to identify opportunities to upsell specials and programs to dealers whenever possible.
  • Respond clearly, effectively, and professionally to customer queries via email, phone, and chat.
  • Continually work to improve service quality to dealers and internal partners.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested.

Employment Standards

Education/Experience: High school degree or equivalent. Related experience in retail sales, preferably in the music industry. A music background in composition, performance or music production is strongly preferred.

Skills: Successful telephone skills; strong oral and written communication skills; musicianship skills, ability to apply strong analytical and problem solving skills. Computer skills are required (word processing, etc.).

Knowledge: Employee must be highly customer oriented with a helpful, friendly telephone manner to enable them to work with Super Store personnel, DSMs and all internal RUS customers. Experience with on-line computer work and ability to maneuver around/inside websites.

Physical Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to sit 40% of the day, walk 30% and stand 30%. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must also be able to bend, push, pull, and reach above head, forward and from side to side to access files. Some travel may be required to attend seminars or provide support for trade shows and other events. Requires constant use of hands, arms, and wrist movement for PC work. Sales and Marketing Assistant Paid Internship

Roland Corporation U.S. is currently seeking candidates for a paid internship position (10-30 hours/week) in our Sales and Marketing departments. We are looking for self-motivated applicants that are interested in getting hands-on experience in the music business as part of the Roland team. You will learn and be involved in the sales process, the creation of retail and event materials, our social media content, and the planning of special events.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to, assistance with trafficking projects, archiving materials, print production, event preparation, marketplace monitoring, and product support. You will grow your sales and marketing skills by supporting our staff comprised of an internal and outside sales force, support of our in-house graphics, web design, print, photo/video, and product marketing teams.

Video Production Internship

We are currently seeking candidates for our paid internship video position (10-30 hours/week). We are looking for self-motivated person(s) that are interested in getting hands-on experience in video production for Roland's creative marketing department. You will learn and be involved in all aspects of video production, from preproduction to post production.

You will be working in multi-camera HD video studios, video editing bays and audio recording rooms. You will get hands-on experience with HD cameras, studio lighting and grip equipment, video switchers, audio mixing boards, and of course tons of musical instruments.
