Cresta Jwaneng in battle against breast cancer

04 Dec 2016

Breast cancer has become a deadly killer, inflicting sorrow on women.  Cresta Jwaneng on Friday joined in the fight against the pandemic to donate a whopping sponsorship destined to sensitise the public about the dangers the disease pose to the human race.

Through the Jwaneng Golf Annual Day, P15, 000 will be donated to Journey of Hope - a charity organisation based in Gaborone - to fight the life-threatening pandemic.

“Our mission as a hospitality company is not only to make profits but to also plough back to the community. We conduct business and other associations committed to a good cause,” said Cresta Jwaneng Sales Manager Katlego Solomon at the donation handover.

Cresta Jwaneng was moved by the noble cause of the charity organisation to fight the deadly disease via public awareness, prompting the leadership to come to the rescue against the pandemic attributed to many deaths especially amongst the women population.

Started in 2014, Cresta Jwaneng social responsibility dubbed “Community Charity’s Golf Day” offers participants a day of golf with this year’s event celebrated on August 20.

“After starting with a paltry accumulation of P12 000 in 2014, the proceeds increased with the 2016 Jwaneng Golf annual event accruing P35 000,” said Cresta Jwaneng General Manager, Shane De Lange.

A non-profitable organisation, Journey of Hope primary’s objective is to educate Batswana about breast cancer and treatment.

Cresta Jwaneng has donated financial assistance through the initiative to neighbouring rural villages surrounding the mining town in the past including Ladimo Orphanage in Sese village.
