Debswana First Division South League (DFDSL) log leaders Sharps Electrical’ s rise in the lower ranks is attributed to the influence of former Township Rollers’s boss, Somerset Gobuiwang. 

Gobuiwang has teamed up with Sharps management in a bid to get the club to the elite league in the near future and his influence at the first division outfit is already being felt, with the team now among serious contenders for promotion. 

Sharps is currently perched at the top of the Debswana First Division South League log, where it is locked in a neck to neck race with Mogoditshane Fighters, Black Peril and Notwane. 

 “Sharps management approached Gobuiwang to assist them to take the club to the top and he agreed. He has now set his sights on building a formidable side that will make strides in the elite Premiership soon,” a source opting for anonymity told Sunday Standard. 

 “Ever since he came into the scene, there have been glimpses of commitment from the players. Already there are some players making strides in the team that were developed under his tutelage,” the source explained.

The former Rollers boss is expected to recruit most of the players he groomed to stardom into the Sharps Electrical fold as he ramps up his efforts to get the side promoted.

Already, Sharps has among its ranks former Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs shot stopper Rafael Nthwaane and Monageng Thaele. 

The team’s gaffer, Keitumetse “Pio” Paul’s talent was sharpened at Township Rollers under the guidance of Gobuiwang with Thaele being among the crop of players to have passed through the ranks of the Gaborone West-based outfit.

‘’The likes of Moemedi “Jomo” Moatlhaping, Kobamelo Kebaikanye and some youngsters are likely to be among the Sharps’ set-up next season. These are some of the players loyal to Gobuiwang and it is just a matter of ironing a few logistics before they are brought on board. Some are still contracted but they are bound to join the camp,’’ the source concluded.

Reached for comment, Gobuiwang said: “These days it’s common that people associate me with teams and there is nothing I can do. It must be known that I have no deals with any other club; I am among the Rollers family and that is all I can say. There is nothing much for me to say as you are aware of Rollers predicaments at the court of law.’’

Sharps Chairman Isaac Gilika said: “There is nothing for me to comment on at the moment. I am busy and have no time for such matters.”
