A warrant of arrest has been  issued against the son of Member of Parliament for Molepolole North, Mohammed Khan, for his non appearance in court where he is facing a charge of stealing two  government vehicles worth over half a million Pula (P601 038.00).

The 27 year old son, Nadeem Khan is charged with theft alongside his co-accused Oteng Puleng, Thabo Seswai and Modisaotsile Rentse.

According to court records, Khan and his co- accused are charged with stealing two government Vehicles, a Ford Range Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser worth close to half a million Pula on July 2014, which were parked at Botswana Defence Force Glen Valley Barracks.

When advancing reasons for warrant of arrest against Khan, state Prosecutor Priscilla Israel described Khan as a very rude and very uncooperative with the police and has a tendency of not attending court proceedings.

He further told the court that police will investigate his co-accused Thabo Seswai who is accused of not following his bail conditions by not properly reporting to Tlokweng Police as prescribed in his bail conditions.

Chief Village Magistrate Mompati Taolo then ordered the accused to appear again on 27 January to confirm their trial dates which has been set for 13-18 January 2017. 

According to Court records, the four accused persons took the two vehicles at Glen Valley Barracks while waiting to be sent to Central Transport Organization for installation of tracking devices.

On the first count, the accused persons on or about the 30th July 2014 at or near Botswana Defence Force at Glen Valley Camp in Gaborone acting together in concert and with a common purpose stole a white Ford Ranger 2.2 registration number 869 AYV/ BX 14 1501 being the property of Government of Botswana valued at P243 635.

On count two they stole a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number B 273 AYG/ BX 14 0865 being the property of Botswana government with a purchase cost of P357 403.

The State has lined up 10 witnesses in the matter. The accused persons will appear in court on 27 January to confirm their trial dates.
