KUKA LBR linear axis

The LBR linear axis extends the workspace of the LBR iiwa. It is easy to install and can be used in human-robot collaboration (HRC) or fully automatically.

The LBR linear axis provides significantly more flexibility

Existing systems are mostly designed for the workspace of human operators. For flexible automation of production, it is therefore imperative for the workspace of the robot to be expanded.

KUKA is meeting this challenge with a linear axis – and allowing human-robot collaboration at the same time. Travel of up to five meters with floor or ceiling installation enables streamlined integration into existing systems. Transfer motions of up to 1.5 meters per second also allow the automation of tasks that are critical in terms of cycle times. This means that the system can be used fully automatically or in human-robot collaboration. The necessary protective measures are already integrated.

Safety and easy installation

The LBR linear axis is equipped with a housing that prevents employees from being pinched or crushed on moving parts. The carriage is adapted to the KUKA LBR iiwa. The lightweight axis with prefabricated installation kits facilitates assembly – even on gantry systems.

LBR linear axis: the intelligent linear unit

The robot’s positioning and its traversing velocity can be safely monitored by a safety module. In the event of a fault, the system reliably switches off. All functions are designed for high performance – PLd, Cat. 3.

You will thus get an Industrie 4.0 solution that satisfies the safety requirements for interaction between humans and robots.

The LBR linear axis enlarges the workspace of the LBR enormously.
