Comprehensive solutions

To meet the challenges of growth, energy efficiency and environmental protection, Saint-Gobain offers innovative solutions for residential buildings, offices, hospitals, daycare centers, schools and other service buildings. The building projects carried out under the Multi-Comfort Program demonstrate that it is possible to build or renovate these types of buildings with currently available materials and technologies.

Products and solutions for tertiary buildings

In mature economies, where the building industry accounts for nearly 40% of energy consumption and 38% of greenhouse gas emissions, regulations are moving towards greater energy efficiency, resulting in sharply increased demand from companies and builders for effective and esthetically pleasing solutions. This trend is particularly noticeable for tertiary building projects – both new construction and renovation – as businesses grow increasingly aware of their environmental impact and the importance of their employees’ working conditions.

ACOUSTIC COMFORT

Acoustic comfort is just as important as thermal comfort when planning living spaces in tertiary buildings, as acoustics affect the quality of work and, more generally, the day-to-day atmosphere in professional settings where efficiency is crucial. To respond effectively to regulatory requirements and provide the level of comfort expected in tertiary buildings, Saint-Gobain has for many years conducted R&D into high-performance solutions for improving acoustic comfort in residential and non-residential buildings. The Group’s brands and partners combine their expertise in this area to offer the best acoustic innovations in an overall “acoustic envelope” approach.

THERMAL COMFORT

Thermal insulation is a core issue addressed by regulations designed to reduce pollution from the operation of buildings – including tertiary buildings. For both new construction and renovation projects, Saint-Gobain’s brands aim for a building envelope with the best insulation performance possible to provide low CO2 emissions. To meet requirements in this area and expectations for comfort in living spaces, the brands offer innovative solutions incorporating leading advances in external, internal and double-wall insulation suited to the overall habitat market.

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

The Group's sustainable development approach applies to all of its brands. Saint-Gobain’s commitments concern products and services, the environment (from product design to internal production processes and marketing) and the Group’s employees, through the implementation of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality guidelines.

Eco-innovation culture

Saint-Gobain uses Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to measure its environmental footprint. In this way, the Group takes steps to create value while at the same time reducing any environmental impact observed. That is the dual aim of Saint-Gobain’s eco-innovation policy, which must deliver real added value to its customers in the form of products and solutions that reduce the environmental impact of infrastructure throughout its life cycle. An eco-innovative product or solution is one that helps reduce the consumption of resources, especially energy and water, in infrastructure and/or one that has a lesser environmental impact across its entire life cycle.
