Decorative Aircraft-rated Thermoplastic Sheet

Boltaron 9815M

Boltaron 9815M is comprised of an opaque cap film with integral metallic coloration, permanently fused to a matching "9815" substrate of a complementary solid color, enhancing scratch resistance.

Newcomerstown, OH — A new scratch-resistant sheet with integral metallic color for thermoforming and fabricating of aircraft interior components has been introduced by Boltaron.

The new grade, "Boltaron 9815M," is a proprietary, FAR 25.853 (a) and (d) rated, PVC/Acrylic alloy that meets FAA requirements for flame, heat release and smoke generation.

Unlike FAR 25.853 (d) rated sheet that is reverse-printed with metallic ink on clear cap film laminated to dissimilar substrate material, "Boltaron 9815M" is comprised of a proprietary cap film with integral metallic coloration, permanently fused to a matching "9815-grade" substrate of a complementary solid color.

Since the 9815M monolithic cap film is a "metallized" version of the company's 9815 solid color substrate, metallic color selection is unlimited.

The sheet's impact resistance of 2 to 5 ft-lbs/in (106 to 265 J/m) is also 66% to 100% greater than competitive FAR 25.853 (d) rated PVC/Acrylic alloys, claims the company.

The sheet is said to maintain uniform wall thickness when thermoformed, and can be brake formed, machined, bonded and mechanically fastened without cracking, and can be cleaned of grime and graffiti using strong chemicals with no fading.

Suggested applications include personal service units, seat parts, tray tables, sidewall panels, window reveals, galley components, lavatory components and moldings.
