New PVC/Acrylic Sheet Extrusion Line Hikes Capacity, Maintains Fast Deliveries at Boltaron

New Boltaron line for PVC and PVC/Acrylic sheet prior to installation of roll stand and ancillary downstream equipment, shows K-Tron feed system and Milacron twin-screw extruder.

Newcomerstown, OH — Boltaron will start up a new high-capacity sheet extrusion line on July 1, 2011 to meet demand for its PVC and PVC/Acrylic alloy sheet products while maintaining rapid delivery times, according to Dean Li, President.

The line consists of a Milacron twin-screw extruder and a K-Tron feed system, with roll stand and ancillary downstream equipment engineered by Boltaron. Consistent with the company's existing sheet extrusion lines, the new line produces gauges from 0.028 to .312 in. (0.71 to 7.92 mm), in widths to 60 in. (1524 mm) in unlimited colors and patterns.

"In addition to high performance sheet products, formers and fabricators need short lead times to meet their commitments while keeping just-in-time inventories low," says Li, "and the new line enables us to deliver on both counts."

The facility also houses a calendering operation that produces monolithic film and sheet products at ultra-high rates, and a press laminating operation in which multiple sheets of calendered or extruded sheet are fused off line to form solid monolithic or composite sheet up to 4.0 in. (102 mm) thick in unlimited colors, textures and patterns.

The company produces 50 grades of specialized sheet that offer fire ratings and physical properties required for aircraft interior applications, mass transit vehicle interiors and commercial/industrial applications ranging from equipment enclosures and holsters to protective interior wall covering and weatherable building products.
