Highland Park High School was in secure campus mode Monday because of a “nonspecific threat,” and police were investigating, a district spokeswoman said.

Parents of the school’s students were notified, said Topeka Unified School District 501 spokeswoman Misty Kruger, who added that all students and staff were safe.

While school continued normally, secure campus mode means everyone stays in the building and an abundance of caution is taken.

The school was set to remain in secure campus mode for the entire day and have a closed lunch period, Kruger said.

No other information about the threat was available.
