Breitkreutz, Thoman post top scores for bowlers

Tibbets dazzles Razzle with 799 unsanctioned series

Mike Breitkreutz and Britni Thoman struck early last week to share the city bowling spotlight in a week in which honor roll scores were hard to come by.

Breitkreutz shot 248-245-279 — 772 in the BNSF League a week ago Monday at West Ridge Lanes to lead the men, while Thoman rolled 233-225-222 — 680 in the Lenahan League the next night at West Ridge to pace the women.

Neither score cracked the season top-10 list, with Thoman’s series tying for 14th and Breitkreutz’s ranking 19th.

Senior bowler Mark Grim had one of the four honor rolls scores with a 278 game (tied for sixth) at West Ridge, where Omer VanVleck (662), Steve Reese (268 – 661) and Gary Hamilton (257 — 661) had the week’s top series.

The senior women were led by Donna Cummings’ 220 — 562 at Gage Bowl and Marlene Flowers’ 192 — 554 at West Ridge.

The other honor roll scores came from the youth ranks, where Nathan Mercer shot 269 — 928 at Gage to claim fourth place for four-game series and a tie for fifth in games (with his third 269), and Maci Nemechek grabbed seventh with a 223 — 782 four-game set at Gage.

— Emmett Tibbets probably wishes he was bowling on a regular league night — instead of an unsanctioned Razzle Dazzle event – when he shot 298-264-237 — 799 on Nov. 28 at Gage Bowl. It’s still worth bragging about, however.
