What’s the best way to beat the distraction of the holidays for a city bowler? Beat them to the punch, which is exactly what Trevor Baumgartner did on Dec. 19.
Bowling in the BNSF League at West Ridge Lanes, Baumgartner got off to a perfect start with a 300 game and added scores of 259 and 266 for an 825 series.
He was joined in the 300 club by Brett Starbuck, who shot 300-205-188 – 693 on Dec. 22 in the Northsiders League at Gage Bowl, and David Halseth, who rolled 194-300-278 – 772 last Thursday in the JPJ & Associates League at Gage.
Other top scores from the past two weeks include Jim Charity’s 248-264-279 – 791 series a week ago Tuesday in the Gage Bombers League, Michael Bortz’s 236-275-267 – 778 last Thursday in the JPJ & Associates League and Mike McBride’s 268-245-258 – 771 on Dec. 22 in the Party Time League at Gage.
They were followed by Allen Payne’s 257-279-226 – 762 and Dylan Burns’ 255-259-243 – 757 last week at West Ridge.
Pacing the women during that stretch was Angie Ross, who shot 212-247-227 – 686 last week in the Little Eight League at Gage and 228 – 641 the week before.
The senior men were led by the trio of Larry Turner, 257 – 697 at West Ridge, and Robert Raye, 266 – 691, and Gil Moreno, 256 – 690, at Gage. Other scores: Ray Justus, 247 – 675, and Mark White, 262 game, at Gage, and Claude Coffman, 276 at West Ridge.
Topping the senior women were Marlene Flowers, 205 – 573, and Ann Dick, 201 – 566, at West Ridge, and Melva Bottom, 201 – 551, at Gage.
Youth bowlers at both centers took the past two weeks off.
