Bank manager’s murder: It was a love ‘triangle’ gone horribly wrong

The Kaggalipura police have claimed to have cracked the murder of 29-year-old deputy manager of a private bank on MG Road with the arrest of a realty firm manager, suspected to be the jilted lover of the victim’s fiancee whom he was slated to tie the knot in January.

Police arrested the accused, Shiva Basavegowda, after it was found that he had purchased a new mobile and SIM card that were used to make the last phone call recieved on the victim’s phone before he was found dead in a plot of land on Kaggalipura Main Road on December 4. Police claimed that the accused decided to eliminate the victim after he came to know that he was engaged to his colleague employed as a tele caller at his real estate firm. Shiva Basavegowda reportedly had a crush on his female colleague and proposed to her in early 2017. But he was heart-broken when she told him that her wedding was fixed on January 21 with the victim, Anil Kumar. Gowda reportedly befriended Anil about six months ago and decided to eliminate him.

Police claimed that he lured Anil to accompany him to his farm house outside the city and had him electrocuted him. According to the police, he took the body to an empty plot and abandoned it.

Anil had left his home in Banashankari on December 2 without informing his parents.

They panicked when he did not return and filed a missing complaint at Channammanakere police station next day. On December 4, Kaggalipura police received information that a body was found abandoned in their limits and it was identified as that of Anil Kumar.
