Studierendenwerksbeitrag ändert sich

Ab dem Herbst-/Wintersemester 2019/20 ändert sich der Studierendenwerksbeitrag, wodurch sich auch der Semesterbeitrag für die Rückmeldung ins HWS 2019/20 auf insgesamt 174,90 Euro erhöht.

Augustinustagung in Rom

Der Heilige Augustinus stand im Fokus einer Tagung im Römischen Institut der Görres-Gesellschaft unter Beteiligung von Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus Deutschland, Italien, Marokko, Algerien und Tunesien. Das Treffen wurde von Professor Claudia Gronemann (Universität Mannheim) und Anja Bettenworth (Universität zu Köln) im Zusammenhang mit ihrem gemeinsamen DFG-Projekt Augustinus-Darstellungen als Formen spätantiker und postkolonialer Wissensproduktion organisiert. Es stellte den Höhepunkt einer Tagungsreihe über Augustinus im modernen Maghreb dar.

Schaden Frauenquoten den Unternehmen?

60 Millionen Dollar im Marktwert hat das durchschnittliche kalifornische Unternehmen seit der Einführung der Frauenquote in Führungsgremien im Oktober 2018 verloren. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt eine neue Studie der Professorin Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi und ihrer Kollegen von der Universität St. Gallen, Schweiz, und der University of California, Berkeley, USA.

ZEW and University of Mannheim Receive 1.7 Million Euros for Joint Tax Research

The Leibniz ScienceCampus Mannheim Taxation (MaTax), a joint research project of the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim and the University of Mannheim, will receive approximately 1.1 million euros in research funding from the Leibniz Association over a period of four years. In addition, the Land of Baden-Württemberg will support the ScienceCampus with 0.6 million euros. During the same period, the University of Mannheim and the ZEW will invest a further 2.4 million euros in tax research carried out within the framework of MaTax.

Mentally Engaging with Work in the Morning and Unwinding At Night Go Hand In Hand

Making a mental list of things to do during breakfast or under the shower and going through the upcoming workday is just as important as disconnecting from work at night, a study conducted by the University of Mannheim work psychologists Sabine Sonnentag and Kathrin Eck together with researchers from Ulm University and Portland State University, USA finds.

More Than 100 Pupils Attend Girls'Day

On this year’s nationwide Girls'Day, more than 100 female pupils visited the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics to learn about opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and get information on the programs offered by the school. Participants not only became more familiar with the University of Mannheim, but, among other things, learned how to develop their own apps.

New Location for the InfoCenter

The InfoCenter, which is run jointly by the University Library and the University Computing Center and serves as the central consultation and service point for both institutions, has moved to the Schloss Schneckenhof Süd Library. Now located on the ground floor of the building, in the Business Administration Library, it was given a complete makeover.

1.1 Million Grant for New Science Data Center

The University of Mannheim and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) receive a 1.1 million grant in the context of the digitalization strategy digital@bw. The grant is to be spent on a new high-performance science data center.
