People who do regular Blogging would mostly use the WordPress Platform. It is always preferable to use the WordPress commenting system to interact with the users. But most of the cases if you lately update your Word Press Blog, you might miss out few default php files which might crashed out. Step1:
- 404 Error exists when you accidentally delete the wp-comments-post.php file from your FTP, which leads to Wordpress Comments 404 Error.
Go to FTP-> find the file WP-Comments-post.php and upload a new file if it doesn’t exist. If this is not the case then shift to step2
Step2:
2. The next step is checking your theme which might be corrupted. Disable the recently installed theme or try to change the theme by installing some new theme. Also try disabling the newly installed plugins and observe if you find any change in accessing wp-comments-post.php file. If this is not the case then move to the next step.
Step3:
3. The next step is replace the existing wp-comments-post.php file, because probably the file got corrupted with malware. This is the best practice to access the file.
Copy the existing file code -> Create New File – > Paste the Code in the new file-> Save as wp-comments-post.php. Finally delete the existing wp-comments-posts.php file. Refresh and try accessing the wp comments again. If this step won’t work out then move to next step.
Step4:
4. The final possible way to fix the 404 error for missing wp-comments-post.php is check .htaccess file.
Go to FTP (Usually called as Cpanel Drive) -> Open .htaccess file->
Usually you will find the below default code for WordPress Sites.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} POST
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} .wp-comments-post\.php*
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !.*example.com.* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^$
RewriteRule (.*) ^http://%{REMOTE_ADDR}/$ [R=301,L]
In the above code replace example.com to your domain name such as askmetip.com.
Save file close and restart your browser and navigate your site. Try commenting now. You should be able to comment with the last step.
