THE ROAD

TO FRANCE

Germany had a less than perfect qualification campaign. The two-time world champions suffered a loss against Iceland, which was their first home defeat in a Women's World Cup qualifier. However, the remaining seven games were won without conceding, and that helped them secure first place in European zone Group 5.

THE COACH

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg

Following the completion of the qualifiers, the former German international took over the role as national coach. Previously, Voss-Tecklenburg coached Switzerland's women's team and led the Swiss to appearances at a FIFA Women's World Cup and UEFA Women's European Championship for the first time in their history.

THE STAR

Dzsenifer Marozsan

If you think of talented German players, Dzsenifer Marozsan must come to mind. She is a leading figure, playmaker and goalscorer, having helped her country with one goal and three assists in four qualifiers for France 2019. Before joining the senior ranks, Marozsan shined for the Germans at youth level.
