James Toseland to stay in World Superbike for 2007

James Toseland has officially announced that he is to stay in the Superbike World Championship series for one more year, with the Ten Kate Honda team. Currently in second position in the standings, behind championship leader Troy Bayliss, this will serve to settle James during the last three races of the season.

Rumours were that James was to move over to the MotoGP series, but he has decided instead to stay in the WSBK series for one more year. On James’ own website he has said, “After careful consideration, and while my MotoGP aspirations are still a priority, I would like to reclaim the World Superbike Championship crown for Honda and Ten Kate Racing. I am therefore happy to wait one more year”.

Staying with Honda for one more year will undoubtedly cement a move over to the MotoGP series in 2008, which will be the second year of the 800cc machines.

With Troy Bayliss having signed for next year, and with James now settled, it will be decision time for the rest of the riders to be picked for next year’s line-up - so a good showing in the last three rounds will be required.

Winner of race one last week, Chris Walker has still not been signed for next year as yet. But Chris has stated that he would like to finish his career in the British Superbike series.
