Education: M.Ed., University of Alabama

Crystal Maness Followill received her M.Ed. in TESOL from the University of Alabama, Huntsville in 2006. She had been teaching ESL for eight years when she joined the Language Institute in 2010. She had also served as an exchange instructor at Maltepe University in Istanbul, Turkey. Since joining the LI, Crystal has worked with other teams of instructors on curriculum, materials, and assessment development. Her proudest achievement was working with Lauren Lukkarila and Karen Peterson on linking the academic reading and writing classes at the 500-700 levels, for which they received the Georgia Tech Curricular Innovation Award in 2013. Since 2015, Crystal has worked on developing standardized assessments across the IEP curriculum. In the classroom, Crystal particularly enjoys teaching reading and writing. When she is not teaching, she likes to enjoy live music, snuggle with her two dogs, and try new recipes with her husband.
