Heather Shaver

Education: M.A., Georgia State University

Heather started her language journey in high school, learning German. She received her bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance at Missouri State University, where she enjoyed using her language skills musically. After graduation and a couple of summers abroad, Heather decided to live in Hungary and Poland, where she added those languages to her repertoire. After raising her kids, she pursued a master’s degree from Georgia State University in Applied Linguistics in order to become a language teacher. Since 2013, Heather has taught at the Georgia Tech Language Institute. She loves working with students who love to learn and who make the most of their opportunities to use the language skills they have. Each student is unique, and that is one of the most enjoyable aspects of teaching for Heather. She loves getting to know the students and seeing them grow in their skills. Her favorite areas of teaching are Speaking and Listening as well as Public Speaking Skills. When she isn’t teaching, Heather loves to spend time with her family, including her dog, play tennis, and go out to fun restaurants in Atlanta. She is also a big fan of sci-fi movies!
