Kurt Belgum

Education: M.A., University of Wisconsin

Kurt Belgum earned his bachelor’s degree in English and German from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, before teaching English to high school students for 3½ years in Minnesota and then receiving his master’s degree in applied English linguistics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1985. Kurt spent his junior year of college in Germany, one semester at the University of Freiburg in southwest Germany, and eight weeks working on a family farm in the Black Forest. In 1979, he spent six weeks teaching English to university students in Taipei, Taiwan. Kurt came to the Georgia Tech Language Institute in September of 1985. In addition to teaching in the Language Institute, he has taught writing classes for Georgia Tech graduate students through CETL and EAS. He has worked in administration, creating and overseeing short courses, and has represented the Language Institute at language fairs in Argentina, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Mexico.
