Marsha Walker

Education: M.A., Georgia State University

Marsha Walker grew up as a military child, moving from place to place before settling in Georgia. Marsha obtained a B.A. in linguistics from the University of Georgia. After graduating, she joined Teach for America and taught in Atlanta Public Schools. She taught literature and journalism to high school students at D.M. Therrell High School. Upon completing her two year commitment there, Marsha moved to teach English and reading to middle school students at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. Shortly thereafter, she started and finished her M.A. in applied linguistics from Georgia State University. In 2011, directly after graduating, Marsha began teaching at the Language Institute. She is currently working on her doctorate degree in higher educational leadership. She hopes to continue to do research primarily in the area of vocabulary acquisition, curriculum development, teacher training, and the use of technology in the classroom. She enjoys baking, watching movies, and relaxing with her husband in her free time.
