At Saint-Gobain, we are transforming our management to improve the satisfaction of our employees every day.

Building a long-term collaboration with each other

We must offer everyone opportunities to grow. »

Claire Pedini, Senior Vice-President,

Human Resources and Digital Transformation

For more than 350 years, we have relied on a strong corporate culture that builds employee loyalty and attracts talents. Every day, we are changing our management methods to give ever more space to the entrepreneurial spirit, to the acquisition of new skills, to continuous dialogue.

By leveraging the diversity of our teams

For a rich, open corporate culture that is in tune with the world around us, we at Saint-Gobain recognize and respect the uniqueness of each individual. We want to integrate and mobilize these differences by creating an environment that promotes equity and equality, which are essential to true professional growth. We therefore commit to a principle of zero tolerance regarding discrimination and to promoting diversity in all its forms: gender diversity, but also regarding nationality, social origin, training, professional background, generational diversity or disability.

Our policy on inclusion and diversity is driven by three complementary levers:

  • a proactive policy adapted to local contexts that increases the diversity of the teams,
  • internal promotions and managerial integration that promote internal diversity,
  • equitable remuneration and access to training and promotion that foster equal opportunities.

To monitor the effects of this policy, we have created a global diversity indicator that integrates the diversity of gender, nationality and experience. We are committed to maintaining this index above 90% at all times. Gender parity objectives at different hierarchical levels are also monitored by the Board of Directors.

Our performance in terms of inclusion and diversity allows us to be included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index 2019.

By supporting each employee in their professional development

In a world of change and upheaval, we want a career at Saint-Gobain to be a testament to skills development, well-being and commitment. We therefore consider each collaboration over the long term by providing quality support to all our employees.

In order to provide concrete answers to social issues, we actively promote local dialogue between employees, representative bodies and the Group. With regard to compensation, companies establish their compensation policy according to market factors and local living conditions. At the same time, employee share ownership offers employees the opportunity to become shareholders on preferential terms. This also illustrates Saint-Gobain's desire to involve its employees in strategic decisions. To ensure that everyone can cope with the hazards of life, Saint-Gobain strives to provide its employees with effective health coverage.

We are committed to creating a motivating and engaging work environment that respects the balance between professional and private life for all employees by facilitating flexibility and home office.

And through a training, internal mobility and employee engagement policy that is adapted and evolving, Saint-Gobain is an employer known for the wealth of the career paths it offers, recognized for its ambition to strive for excellence in each of its businesses.

For the 4th consecutive year, we have been awarded the "Top Employer Global" label by the Top Employers Institute.

By enriching our corporate culture with the five "Saint-Gobain Attitudes"

The world's social, economic and technological transformations are leading us to rethink our group's practices and operating methods to ensure that we offer everyone an environment conducive to professional development. That is why in 2016, we worked together to define the outlines of a new managerial culture. This collaborative effort with field managers resulted in the formulation of five Attitudes: cultivate customer intimacy, act as an entrepreneur, innovate, be agile, develop an open and engaging culture. These Attitudes, which are widely spread internally, unite all the Group's employees.

Key Figures :

  • Diversity index : 91% in 2018 (nationality, experience, gender)
  • Ratio between the average basic wage of men and women: 0.91
  • 87.7% of our employees have completed at least one training course in 2018
  • In 2018, 7.4% of our shares are held by our employees.
